Our Role in Oporajita

The Asia Foundation operates as the backbone organization and plays a steering role for Oporajita-Collective Impact on Future of Work, driving the common vision and strategy. This includes tasks such as facilitating synergies and mutually reinforcing activities among partners, navigating and analyzing shared measurement of impact, and leading the communications of the initiative with external and internal stakeholders.

Who are we

The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives and expanding opportunities across Asia and the Pacific. Informed by decades of experience and deep local expertise, our work across the region is focused on good governance, women’s empowerment and gender equality, inclusive economic growth, environment and climate action, and regional and international relations. Headquartered in San Francisco, with an office in Washington, DC, The Asia Foundation works through its network of 18 country offices across Asia and the Pacific. Working with public and private partners, the Foundation receives funding from a diverse group of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals. In 2022, we provided $86.7 million in direct program support and distributed textbooks and other educational materials valued at $2.4 million.

With our 70 years of unwavering commitment to the nation, we have spearheaded and nurtured numerous programs that have significantly shaped the growth and vision of the country. Serving as the backbone organization for Oporajita, we believe we are actively building thought leadership in the Collective Impact Approach, working alongside our partners to facilitate transformative change in a collaborative fashion. Our mission is to unlock the full potential of the remarkable women RMG workers who have played pivotal roles in our nation's economy, thereby contributing to a brighter and more equitable future.

Our Activities

  • Guide the collective vision and strategy of the program.
  • Support mutually reinforcing and aligned activities of implementation partners.
  • Establish shared measurement practices of outcomes and impact among partners to achieve the common agenda.
  • Convene thematic & functional working groups and steering committee to facilitate overall operations and strategy with partners.
  • Identify best practices and knowledge sharing with local/community-based implementation partners.
  • Build public will & advance policies that align with the common agenda.
  • Mobilize and align financial commitments and resources to support common priorities & strategies.
